Boswell Journal ("we", "our", "the app") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly: your name, email address, trip details, diary entries, expense records, photos, and checklist items. We also collect basic usage data such as login timestamps and device type for service improvement.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely to provide and improve the Boswell Journal service — storing your trips, syncing across devices, enabling friend sharing features, and providing expense tracking. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Cloudflare's global infrastructure (D1 database and R2 storage). All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication tokens are cryptographically signed. Passwords are hashed with PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 using a unique random salt per account and 100,000 iterations; we never store the password itself.
4. Data Sharing
Trip data is shared only with users you explicitly invite as trip participants. Friend connections require mutual consent. Your diary entries, expenses, and personal notes are private by default.
5. Your Rights
You may export all your data at any time via Settings → Export Data. You may permanently delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Delete All Data. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
6. Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser local storage to maintain your login session and cache trip data for offline access. No third-party tracking cookies are used.
7. Contact
For privacy-related inquiries, please contact us through the app's feedback feature or at [email protected].
